About Green Valleys

Green Valleys’ journey begins in 1964 as a grass roots organization opposed to the damming of the French Creek to create a reservoir–an act which would have flooded Pughtown and surrounding lands. Form this beginning, over the past sixty years we have pursued watershed protections and enhancements across five watersheds located in the northern Chester County, Pennsylvania.

Our Headquarters is located in the French Creek watershed in East Nantmeal Township at Welkinweir, the former home of founding members Everett & Grace Rodebaugh. It is from here that the organization fulfils its purpose of watershed protection, environmental education, and land stewardship.
